In Praia da Luz (south of Portugal), on the seaside of Atlantic Ocean, there are remains of the Roman center of salting and fish processing.

In ancient times, this place was a small center where aqueducts, a small bathhouse and houses were built.

The Algavre region (south of Portugal) was an important source of salted fish for the Romans.
