In the former Roman camp Vindolanda, in northern England, two precious stones were found.
Ornaments are so-called gems – carved with precious stones from carnelian and red jasper, showing the gods Minerva and Apollo. According to the researchers, the adhesive that attached stones to the rings was not strong enough and the stones fell off.
