“Caligula’s Kitchen” – historical comedy

This post is also available in: Polish (polski)

Caligula’s Kitchen (cover attached) is a historical comedy in which the fictional Chef Logos, a Greek freedman, works in the kitchen of Emperor Caligula. He tries to prevent Caligula’s murder so that he can stay employed.

In the tale that follows, Logos must deal with the Saturnalia, gambling on gladiators, the famous Heron of Alexandria, a war with King Neptune, a revolt in the Senate, vestal virgin spies, and the horse Incitatus who was made a senator by Caligula. Logos also finds a clever way for Caligula to escape Rome without being murdered.

The book was well received and I have written a sequel: Caligula’s Kitchen: The Oracle and the Saytress. In this tale, Logos deals with the Oracle at Delphi, the British rebel Caratacus, and the Empress Messalina.
